Legal Assistant to the Commonwealth's Attorney This position will work under the direct supervision of the Commonwealth's Attorney and Deputy Commonwealth's Attorney, and assist Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney's as needed.
Responsibilities include:
General reception and correspondence duties including answering phones and taking phone messages, checking inboxes and mail; monitoring the Commonwealth's Attorney's correspondence and directing time-sensitive correspondence to appropriate Attorneys; file and docket preparation to include cataloging file contents for file completion; calendar management for office-wide calendars and individual calendars; and substantive criminal and civil pleading preparation as needed.
Successful applicants must be thoroughly knowledgeable in felony criminal court proceedings, highly proficient in Word, Outlook, and other associated office systems, and will demonstrate proficient organizational skills, a high degree of attention to detail, discretion in dealing with sensitive cases and victims of crimes and flexibility to work well with existing staff in a demanding environment to aid in the effective administration of Justice.
Applicants with experience working in Criminal Justice, the Legal field, or Court Clerk's Offices preferred.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
