Description Provide wellness programming and suggest appropriate and imaginative programming ideas to Life Enrichment Coordinator.
Develop and implement wellness events.
Teach high quality group exercise classes that are varied, creative and enjoyable in a safe and effective manner.
Follow industry standards and ACSM guidelines.
Use proper form and clear verbal instruction Implement appropriate exercise programs based on individual health status, industry standards, ACSM guidelines that meet individual fitness goals, needs and health conditions.
Work closely with our Rehab Department on annual Wellness Assessments for our Independent Living residents.
Secure additional instructors as needed to enhance the wellness program.
Maintain resident fitness files, evaluating physical abilities and relevant medical history.
Monitor and maintain work environment of Wellness Center by keeping equipment clean and in good working order.
Report any notable individual resident safety or health concerns to the Life Enrichment Coordinator promptly.
Strive to sustain and increase resident participation.
Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
Attend all in-services, training and meetings as required.
Meet all training requirements as required by Federal and State Regulations, company and community policies.
Communicate any pertinent resident/schedule issues to supervisor on a daily basis.
Follow HIPAA guidelines in regard to resident confidentiality, sharing only appropriate information to supervisor when needed.
Demonstrate a commitment to safety by following safety rules and guidelines; follow good housekeeping practices, take proper care of equipment and perform job duties and responsibilities in a safe and responsible manner.
Demonstrate dependability, reliability and punctuality.
Report to work when schedule, ready to work.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements Job
Summary:
The primary responsibility of the Wellness Center Specialist is to plan and lead group exercise classes, offer one-on-one personal training, and work as a team with our Rehab Department to assist in Wellness Assessments and Post-Therapy exercise programs.
The Wellness Center Specialist will also spend some time assisting with programs throughout our licensed neighborhoods.
Qualifications:
High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
Two years of experience in wellness/fitness or a combination of education and experience in field.
Knowledge of proper exercising technique according to industry standards as set forth by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).
First Aid and CPR certifications required upon employment.
Experience instructing group/individual exercise preferred, willing to become certified.
Ability to assist in developing and implementing senior specific wellness programming.
Strong verbal/written communication and computer skills.
Ability to work independently without close supervision.
Ability to work with confidential information and maintain its' integrity.
Strong customer service skills; maintain a hospitality approach to engaging with all individuals.
